Everybody Loves A Good Hack

You ever think to yourself “There has to be an easier way!”

This is how life hacks are born. Some people figured out how to work smarter, not harder. These little tidbits of information can save valuable time, effort, and even money. They can even be entertaining to read. Who doesn’t like that?

Here are 25 life hacks to make your life easier!

  • How to half a recipe:

1/4 cup= 2 TBS

1/3 cup= 2 TBS and 2 TSP

1/2 cup= 1/4 cup

2/3 cup= 1/3 cup

3/4 cup= 6 TBS

1 TBS= 1 1/2 TSP

1 TSP= 1/2 TSP

1/2 TSP= 1/4 TSP

  • If you’re test driving a used car:

Drive with the defrost on high and hot. This will make any leaks known instantly.

  • For those Target shoppers:

If the price ends in 8, it’ll be marked down again. If it ends in 4, it’s the lowest price it’ll be.

  • Got to keep your white shoes sparkling?

Use nail polish remover to remove stains and scuffs.

  • Stop getting burned by your seat belt:

Click it in every time you get out to keep the metal from being heated from the sunlight.

  • Stifle a sneeze by saying “Popcorn.”

It works, just trust me on this.

  • Don’t have money for a hotel while traveling?

Park in a Walmart parking lot. They won’t kick you out (I can say I’ve seen this first hand with even RVs as long as you don’t take up the good parking spaces)

  • Allergic to bee and wasp stings?

Instead of swatting at them, which will only anger the little tyrants, blow them off you if possible. This is nonthreatening and reduces your risk of getting stung.

  • Stop losing so much money in vending machines:

Put your lowest value in first. If the machine is broken, you won’t lose as much money.

  • Make a clean cut in a cake:

Use unflavored, wax dental floss to cut a cake.

  • Can’t find something on a page?

Scan the page from right to left. You’re mind isn’t used to reading that way and will subconsciously pay more attention.

  • Stop trying figure out which key goes to what:

Paint the top of your keys with nail polish or paint. You’ll remember the blue key goes to home and the green one is to the office easier than “it has little lines on the top.”

  • Improve self control.

Complete small tasks such as brushing your teeth, eating, or writing small sections with your non-dominant hand can cause an effect in your brain that improves self control.

  • Defrost your car lock with hand sanitizer.
  • Don’t think you have enough items to make a recipe?

Check on supercook.com and add in all the ingredients in your cupboards and fridge and it will come up with recipes for you!

  • Sugar can help ease a burnt tongue.
  • Never run out of room on your internet tabs again!

Simply right click on tabs and hit “Pin Tab” and it will decrease the size to just an icon. (I tried this and my mind was blown. Take that Steve with your crazy amount of tabs open!)

  • Make your handwriting neater by lightening up your grip.
  • Stop struggling with blister packaging and open the edge with a can opener!
  • Make a make shift strainer by poking holes on one side of a mason jar.
  • Have a fruit fly problem?

Put some honey or orange juice in a deep container (such as a jar or a soda bottle), cover in plastic wrap and use a pin to poke a couple holes in it. They can go in and get the honey, but they can’t get out! (This is also a tried and true method I’ve used myself)

  • Spraying WD-40 will get gum off your shoes.
  • Never worry about hard ice cream again!

Put your ice cream in a large Ziploc bag and it will keep it at the perfect scoop-able consistency.

  • Need to make the degree sign (°) on a keyboard?

Type 0176 while holding the Alt key.

  • Flat pillow? Put it in the sun for 30 minutes and it will plump back up!
